Nicknames are something very special!

Nicknames are something very special. They express feelings, sensations and much more. A nickname summarise in one word how you look at yourself, what your character traits are, what your essence is. What you think about him. 

Anyone who has a nickname should respect themselves. Because that means that you are important to a person. A nickname makes the bond and relationship with another person special. 

But nicknames are handled differently in different countries, cultures and religions. In many countries it is the case that you only give your partner a nickname as a token of their love. There it is not "allowed" or well regarded to give someone a nickname. 

In Germany, on the other hand, you give nicknames to those who mean something or who are close to your heart, whom you trust. It doesn't matter whether it's family, friends or partner. 

Here only differences are made with the nicknames. For example, I call my partner darling, babe, my love etc. In turn, I give my friends other nicknames like sweetie, sunshine or a name that you give your friends because it suits you. 

For example, I have a friend who I call honey. In America only spouses or the like are called that. It's okay for him and me that I call him that. Because we know we're just friends and I know the meaning behind why I call him that. Because he is a lovable person, he is sweet (like honey) and his soul is so pure and golden (like honey) ... 

That's why, in my opinion, nicknames are used to show the other person that I care about you, that you are worth a nickname because you are special and unique. 

You can also call people brother or sister even though they are not related to you by blood. But it is an honor to be given such an expressive name. Because family is something very important. 

So think about why you give nicknames, what you mean by them. And all of that is my opinion, my point of view. Think about it and maybe question one thing or the other. Everyone has their own opinion about it.
